Mila Khalizova graduated from Penza State University of Architecture and Construction. The foundation of her artistic practice lies in the exploration of natural elements, a deep respect for nature, and the search for new forms of beauty.
Working on linen canvases, Khalizova creates objects whose visual impact emerges from their tactile qualities. The compositions are reduced to a minimum: this laconic approach allows the viewer to focus on the sculptural character of the forms, the harmony between the materials, and the inherent beauty of natural substances. The apparent simplicity of the works conceals a complex and meticulous process of creation.
Using organic materials — from fir cones to seaweed — the artist constructs striking textured canvases. In her Baltic Series, Mila presents an ode to simplicity and minimalism, as well as a declaration of love for the nature of the Baltic region and the culture and traditions associated with it.
